Experiences that Benefit the Next Generation of Leaders

Julia Borkowski, 23, grew up in Henrietta, NY, and as a UNAR intern helped coordinate a high
school Model UN conference which was held at St. John Fisher

The task: I invited professionals from around Rochester and the surrounding area to act as guest speakers at the Model UN conference. It was lots of work to coordinate so many people under the time constraints, but ultimately was very rewarding.

The impact: This experience improved my confidence in reaching out to people whom I hadn’t already met and then coordinating with this large group of people to produce an organized end result!

A new job: After COVID evacuation from the US Peace Corps in Morocco, I now work at a local winery. This enables me to utilize my love for international history, culture, and maps alongside the communication skills I have developed thus far throughout my professional career.
