UNAR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The United Nations Association of Rochester, NY, provides internship programs for college/university students and recent graduates who are passionate and have strong interest in global issues, international affairs and the United Nations mission. We accept interns on a rolling basis and year-round as long as the intern is an undergraduate (min Junior) or a graduate student (Masters, PhD or Post Doc) or has graduated in past 2 years. Our interns have diverse backgrounds and their various interests include direct community involvement, fundraising, organizing events, web content development and newsletter publications. Our internship program grants the interns the opportunity to serve in various roles in support of our organization’s mission and to promote UN-related initiatives and programs. Examples can include one team of interns actively support and participate in our UNAR office/board proceedings while another intern team enroll in our UNAR programs and are placed with our Community Partners as delegates of UNAR. The UNAR Office Support team works with UNAR directly to help maintain UNAR initiatives at the office level. Interns will be working in an array of activities including providing board member support, grant writing, researching current events, writing newsletters, helping with membership outreach, and planning and hosting events such as UN Day, Model UN Day, etc. The Community Partner support team works directly with our Partner Organizations to help them promote UN Initiatives. Duties range from working directly with refugees to provide housing and healthcare assistance at the Refugee center, tutoring students, assisting with Citizenship classes, and to food and furniture distribution with our local churches.

Eilis Regan
Eilis Regan is a Rochestarian, studying at the University of Rochester. She is currently a senior, majoring is Russian Language and Literature. Her goal is to become fluent in Russian. Hence, following graduation this spring, she plans to get to Russia somehow: She is a Semi-Finalist for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Russia; and she has applied to work as an English teacher at the American Home in Vladimir, Russia. Her fate shall be determined in April. After completing her hoped-for gap year, she plans to attend graduate school; for what exactly, she’s not sure yet. Career-wise, she aspires to become a journalist, teacher, or to work for the United Nations in some capacity. Nevertheless, she is delighted to be the United Nations Association Membership Outreach and Involvement Intern this year!
Asma Mohammadi
My name is Asma Mohammadi and I am a junior at Nazareth College pursuing a Political Science degree with a minor in Global Studies. My primary focus in my studies is the war in Afghanistan and the current Refugee Crisis. I am fluent in Farsi and Dari and am able to write and read in Arabic. I have a passion for helping those who cannot advocate for themselves and I hope that through this internship I will be able to do just that.
